WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

To participate in this expedition, participants must have:

  • Advanced Open Water (AOW) certification or equivalent

  • Minimum of 20 logged dives

Raja Ampat has strong currents and advanced diving conditions, making this requirement essential for safety and enjoyment.

For divers who only have the Open Water certification but meet the 20 dives requirement, it will be mandatory to complete the AOW certification prior to Raja Ampat. This can be done in Bunaken through our partner dive center.

Bunaken

Bunaken is one of Indonesia's most renowned marine parks, famous for its spectacular wall dives, vibrant coral gardens, and crystal-clear waters. Expect rip current dives along breathtaking vertical coral walls, incredibly high visibility, and an explosion of marine life in every direction: turtles, eagle rays, reef sharks, and large schools of fish.
We're not kidding when we say Bunaken is one of the best places to dive in the world, and that if we could, we'd return there every year.
The islet has a local atmosphere, with churches and mosques jostling for space, but once you're underwater, the only thing you can focus on is how perfect the ocean can be.

Lembeh

Lembeh is a paradise for macro divers, known for its unique creatures and world-class muck diving. Here, you'll find blue-ringed and mimic octopuses, frogfish, flamboyant cuttlefish, and rare nudibranchs hidden in the black volcanic sand. Each dive is like an underwater treasure hunt, revealing some of the most fascinating and bizarre marine species on the planet.
While Bitung is a port town with little charm, once you board a boat to go diving, the natural beauty unfolds. And even though volcanic sand dives take place in low-visibility locations with few corals, in just five minutes you can understand why Lembeh Strait is a favorite destination for underwater photographers.

Raja Ampat

Do we really need to introduce Raja Ampat?
Located in the heart of the Coral Triangle, this remote paradise boasts over 1,500 species of fish, 600 species of coral, and an abundance of manta rays, wobbegong sharks, and schools of fish. This is a must-see diving destination for those seeking the ultimate underwater adventure.
Raja Ampat isn't just a paradise below the surface; here, surface intervals are taken on idyllic beaches throughout the archipelago.
If you don't want to dive three times a day, a free afternoon offers great possibilities, from reading a book in a hammock in an overwater bungalow to birdwatching tours and climbing breathtaking viewpoints. As diving professionals, we can't promise anything, but here we promise a lot of life.

Local Experience

For this expedition, we strayed from the norm and decided to organize an authentic experience by partnering with local providers. In Bunaken, we'll stay with a local homestay that owns its own dive center, all with full board and local food prepared by the family. In Lembeh, we'll stay in a hotel, and while the hotel offers convenient accommodations, our diving experience will be with a locally owned dive center run by an Indonesian man passionate about the creatures of the Strait. For Raja Ampat, we opted for a homestay experience, offering a basic yet authentic stay in traditional overwater bungalows. More information about accommodations is available in the expedition briefing.
